Unbeknownst to most entering graduate students (and to some entered grad students) there are many opportunities for activity outside of the Ling department. Once you have gotten your bearings inside and about Margaret Jacks, feel free to check out the other parts of campus. Always remember that outside of the Linguistics department, there are over 6000 graduate students and 6500+ undergrads on campus. If you are looking for ways to expand your linguistic interests or to take your mind off of things linguistic for awhile, chances are great that there are others on campus with the same thing in mind.
