Public places to compute on campus
- Sweet Hall UNIX cluster
There is a large number (about 120) of UNIX workstations capable of
running X-Windows on
the second floor of Sweet Hall, which is behind Meyer Library. For
example, there are SUN Sparc 20s called elaineXX.
When you log in to those machines remotely, you can just rlogin to elaine, which will connect you to the one which is least busy with other users. There are also some Sun Ultra I and Ultra II and Silicon Graphics Workstations, and 3 Laser printers available in Sweet Hall, which is open 24h a day, seven days a week. In order to use these machines, you need to have a leland account.
- Tresidder Union Mac cluster
Roughly: 68 Power Macs with CD-ROM, printers, one color scanner

- Meyer Library Mac cluster
Roughly: 60 Apple Power Macs with CD-ROM, printers, black&white and color
scanners, and about 25 PCs
